Visas on arrival are granted at the port of entry by the Controller-General of Ghana Immigration Service (GIS). For countries without a Ghanaian embassy the application must be filed by the host person or entity in Ghana on behalf of the visiting foreign national.
Emergency Entry Permits are valid for 14 days and may be obtained for collection purposes where an application has been filed on behalf of the foreign national by the local host with the Director of Immigration.
The applicant for the Visas on arrival will need the approval letter from the Ghanaian Immigration Service before they can travel.

Holiday/Tourist Visa B-2
Holiday Visa
Employment and trade is prohibited
Doesn’t give prospects for permanent residency
A Holiday/Tourist visas B-2 is issued for holiday purposes only. This may be obtained upon arrival to individuals that are exempted from obtaining visas to enter Ghana. Non-exempt countries must apply for an emergency permit or visa prior to travelling to Ghana for holiday purposes.

Visitors in Transit
Issued for 48 hours
Valid for a single entry
Allows you to transit through Ghana
This visa is for individuals who are seeking entry clearance to enter Ghana in transit and may be admitted for a period not exceeding 48 hours
The following quintessential documents must be submitted interalia with the application:
- Two recent passport sized colour photographs
- Copy of itinerary
- Motivational letter of support for application

Work Permit or Immigration Quota
Allows you to conduct work
Must be obtained prior to working in Ghana
May be extended in country
A Work permit or Immigrant quota grants authorization to an employer or employee to engage in lawful and profitable employment in Ghana.

- Full employment contract
- CV
- Police report from home country
- Employment contract with employer
- Copy of company’s tax clearance certificate

Study Permit
Allows you to study in Ghana
Must apply with a recognized and accredited Institution in Ghana
Work is prohibited
A Study Permit allows you to study in Ghana, the prospective student should first have an offer of admission from a recognized and accredited Institution in Ghana. Students other than those coming from ECOWAS countries are required to obtain visas or entry permits before proceeding to Ghana

- Proof of acceptance from the Accredited institution
- Show proof of exemption or payment of required course fees
- Proof of accommodation
- Proof of financial support
- Four passport size photographs
