This visa category allows the holders thereof to lawfully visit or accompany your spouse while he/she is on work assignment in Botswana and can be issued for up to 2 years.
This category may also be used for Religious leader visiting Botswana and children who wish to accompany their parents.

- Sworn statement / affidavit from the host (personal appearance of the host for oath)

Business Visa

May be granted for up to 90 days

Allows you to attend meetings and conferences

South African nationals may obtain this upon arrival
A Business visa allows the holder thereof to enter Botswana for professional activities such as meetings, research, conferences or visiting a subsidiary branch of the parent company.
These visas are granted for up to 90 days and may be extended for a further 3 months in country.
The following quintessential documents must be submitted interalia with the application –
- Business profile (if coming to establish a business)
- Labour exemption certificate (if coming for a month or more)
- Meeting schedule (if coming to attend or organize meeting)

Temporary Work Permit

Allows you to lawfully work

Applications must be made prior to entering Botswana

Takes anything from 7 – 30 days to process
A Temporary Work visa is designed for foreign workers to take up employment in Botswana on a temporary assignment, this visa is issued for not more than 6 months.
Applications should be made in your home country or country where you hold temporary residency and applicants should already be in possession of the visa before attempting to enter Botswana.

- Waiver from the department of Labour or copies of work and residence permits
- Employment offer letter or confirmation of employment

Employment Permit is designed for foreign workers to take up employment offers in Botswana. Employment permits are initially valid for a period of two years but can be extended in Botswana.
Applications should be made in your home country or country where you hold temporary residency and applicants should already be in possession of the visa before attempting to enter Botswana. Your family can accompany you, however the accompanying dependents will also need to apply for residency and make their application with the Botswanan immigration authorities.

Study Permit

Allows you to study in Botswana

Required prior to entering the country

Work is prohibited
A study visa allows the holder to reside in Botswana whilst studying at a Botswana institution of primary, secondary or tertiary education.
To study in Botswana, the applicant must be accepted by a school or tertiary education provider in writing by providing a letter of acceptance which must be on the institution’s letterhead and signed by or on behalf of the registrar or principal.

Accompany Dependent Permit for Botswana

Allows you to legally stay in Botswana with your family

Work is prohibited
Accompany dependent permit allows the holder to reside in Botswana whilst accompanying the Employment permit holder, however the accompanying dependents will also need to apply for residency visa and make their application with the Botswanan immigration authorities.
