Given the exceptional situation, the Economic Development Board (EDB) Mauritius wishes to inform all applicants that the processing of work and residence permit applications will be delayed. As such, an extension of 3 months has been granted for expired work and residence permits.
The Economic Development Board (EDB) takes cognizance of the Curfew Order dated 22 March 2020 (General Notice No.512 of 2020) issued by the Government of Mauritius (“the Curfew Order”), aimed at mitigating the spread of COVID-19 in Mauritius. The Curfew Order, which is effective since 23 March 2020 at 20:00, local time has been extended till 15 April 2020 at 20:00 hrs local time.
Given the exceptional situation, the EDB wishes to inform all applicants that the processing of applications for Occupation/Residence Permits will be delayed.
As such, the following arrangements have been made, after consultation with the authorities concerned:
New applications for Occupation/Residence Permit
All applicants who have submitted their applications via the National E- Licensing System (https://business.edbmauritius.org/) and whose business/tourist visa have expired during the imposed curfew will be given a temporary extension of 3 months as from the date of expiry of the business/tourist visa by the Passport and Immigration Office. Once the curfew is lifted, the applicants will be called for an appointment for verification of original documents and issuance of the relevant permit.
Second Application/ Renewal cases for Occupation/Residence Permit
All applicants who have submitted their applications via the National E- Licensing System (https://business.edbmauritius.org/) and whose Occupation/ Residence permit has expired or is about to expire during the imposed curfew will be given a temporary extension of 3 months as from the date of expiry of the permit by the Passport and Immigration Office. Once the curfew is lifted, the applicants will be called for an appointment for verification of original documents and issuance of the relevant permit.
The EDB will continue to assess the situation and applicants will be kept informed accordingly, of any changes and developments through our website.
